We are always on the lookout for skilled engineers or creative graduates for future roles, particularly those with a background in the following areas:
Work will primarily be office based with an element of travel to customer sites around Australia. Most importantly we are looking for the right personalities to fit in, so if you're up for some hard work and great rewards you're the kind of person we are looking for. We are also able to sponsor overseas applications if you are CCIE qualified.
If you are interested in working for us, email a recent CV and short description of your current situation to: email@example.com
At IPTel we undertake cutting edge work, largely in the wireless LAN space. We work across many hospitals, which offers a fascinating insight into the way in which our technology assist clinicians in their daily lives. We also work across other verticals, so you might find yourself in an industrial, retail or warehouse environment.
A typical day with the company will see you working on a project for a client. This typically involves working through the initial predictive surveys for clients and ensuring the design will meet the clients requirements. You will work on written detailed designs and complex network diagrams, so excellent written English, attention to detail and ability to logically construct documents and diagrams is an absolute must.
Your documentation will be peer reviewed, so expect some feedback! Once you're in the groove with the company you'll find your level of documentation and diagrams has improved to meet our normal levels.
Thinking through the design, you'll write some change controls, for review and approval by the client. On new work, we lab up scenarios as this stage to test how the configuration will work.
Attending site is where the main action takes place. Commissioning is an important part of what we do and we have a well defined methodology for this. Follow the instructions and the change control and commission the site - there's always the potential for issues of course, so you might need to fault find any problems, so working under what at times can be considerable pressure is important. Making changes in a clinical environment takes special care and attention to detail. Make mistakes and you won't last too long with us.
After the commissioning, is the post install survey stage - walk rounds of the site and measure the coverage - you'll use your engineering knowledge and experience to confirm the coverage meets the specification, or what actions to take to help it do so.
The works complete with reports on coverage, and collating all the documentation - deployed equipment details, maps and test sets.
We also work on new technologies quite frequently, so might get you to look over a new product of technology and train on this for us. We can then use this to help drive sales in new technologies and expand what we do.
Working with large warehouses, industrial or building sites, you'll have access to new and unique environments where we undertake work. You'll need to pay particular attention to safety in these environments, so need to demonstrate your safety minded attitude. The scopes sometimes can involve lots of complex parts and information - can you take lots of moving parts on a project and understand the overall picture? You'll need that to track that everything on your project is tracking according to plan. You'll have help from a project manager of course to guide you, but like most engineers you'd like to work semi-autonomously, so tracking what you need on the project will help.
The environment is quick paced, with focus on delivery of customer requirements - so yes, you'll need some good customer facing skills too!
